Family Nurse Practitioner

Caring and kindness is what I want to be remembered for in my career and what I strive to show to my patients every day. I like to get to know my patients and find ways to help them meet their health goals in a way that matters to them. Discussing medical conditions, treatments and  recommendations in a way that can be understood by all is an attribute I have and credit this to my NC upbringing. Nursing is in my blood. My mother, sister, and sister-in-law are all nurses. After receiving my BSN from UNC Charlotte in 2003, I went on to work in the OB/GYN field for 10 years. Then I moved to become an RN Obstetric Case Manager for 3 years and used this time to go back to school to attain my FNP (Family Nurse Practitioner) from the University of South Alabama. I gained experience as a nurse practitioner in Internal Medicine which opened up many new interests for me. I enjoy decorating, refinishing furniture, and spending time with family.”

Family Nurse Practitioner

My mission as a family nurse practitioner is to provide wellness, prevent illness, and utilize evidence-based practice in the care I
provide.  I want to motivate patients of all ages to identify their own wellness goals and aid in assisting them in their journey. I am a native of Davie County. I began my medical career as a CNA at a hospital in Statesville before graduating from Winston-Salem State University in 1998 with a BSN. I have worked in the nursing field since 1998 with experience in ICU/CCU/telemetry, OB/GYN at a local office, management, hospice/palliative care, emergency room, and urgent care. I completed my family nurse practitioner degree from South University in 2018 and worked a year and half in urgent care. I am DOT certified and am a certified medical examiner with the Federal Motor
Carrier Safety Administration. I enjoy spending time with my family and traveling. I also have a 17 month old Belgian Malinois/German Shepard mix named Kilo.

Registered Nurse

“Hi, I am Megan Montgomery. As a child, with dreams of being an attorney, I initially obtained a BA- Political Science from UNC-Chapel Hill. With a change of heart and direction, I decided to apply to nursing school instead of law school after undergrad. I started my nursing career in June 2011 after receiving an accelerated BSN from WSSU. My ten years of nursing have all been with Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist. My nursing background includes Burn Intensive Care Unit, Pediatric Emergency Room, Pediatric Acute Care, Family Medicine/Urgent Care, and now this team. I have a passion for helping others and being an advocate for those who cannot advocate for themselves. In my downtime I enjoy watching/going to sporting events, traveling, and exploring new and upcoming local restaurants and boutiques. I am a dog mom who enjoys spoiling my golden doodle Avery absolutely rotten! Joining this team has been a wonderful experience. I  have enjoyed learning all the department does for the local businesses and community. I look forward to providing the best care and wellness for the employees of Ashley Furniture.
