WELLNESS CENTER

WHERE IS THE WELLNESS CENTER LOCATED?

The Wellness Center is located at 132 Ashley Furniture Way, Advance, NC 27006

WHO IS ELIGIBLE TO USE THE ONSITE WELLNESS CENTER?

The Wellness Center is open to Ashley Furniture employees, as well as spouses and dependents (ages 2) on the Ashley Furniture health plan. You must have your photo ID to be seen in the Wellness Center. If you have insurance we highly recommend you bring your insurance card.

WHAT ARE THE HOURS OF OPERATION FOR THE ONSITE WELLNESS CENTER?

The Wellness Center is open Monday to Friday from 6:00 am to 6:00 pm

HOW DO I MAKE AN APPOINTMENT TO BE SEEN AT THE WELLNESS CENTER?

You can call 336-713-8948 or visit AshleyWellnessNC.com to make an appointment online.

DOES THE WELLNESS CENTER TAKE WALK-INS?

While the Wellness Center will have a limited number of same day appointments, we HIGHLY recommend that you make an appointment to avoid waiting and to ensure that you are able to be seen.

WHAT HAPPENS IF I’M LATE FOR MY APPOINTMENT?

Patients arriving later than 15 minutes for their scheduled appointment may be asked to reschedule.

AM I ALLOWED TO USE THE WELLNESS CENTER DURING MY WORK SHIFT?

Yes. If you come to work and are feeling ill, you may make an appointment at the Wellness Center by phone at 336-713-8948 or online at AshleyWellnessNC.com. Seek your supervisor’s permission before leaving work.

IF I USE THE WELLNESS CENTER DURING MY SHIFT, DO I HAVE TO CLOCK OUT?

Yes. If you are using the clinic during your shift you must use hours from your unpaid bank of attendance hours.

AM I ALLOWED TO COME TO THE WELLNESS CENTER ON MY DAY OFF OR WHEN I HAVE CALLED IN SICK?

DOES THE WELLNESS CENTER OFFER VIDEO OR TELEPHONE VISITS?

Yes! You may schedule by calling the Wellness Center at 336-713-8948

WHAT SERVICES ARE AVAILABLE AT THE WELLNESS CENTER?

The Wellness Center will treat the items listed below as well as it will treat work place injuries, illnesses, and other Occupational Medicine services. 

Acute care for adults and children over 2 years old:

  • Upper respiratory symptoms, allergies, cough, flu-like symptoms, sinus

  • Ear infections, earache

  • Sore throat, strep throat

  • Mouth/oral conditions

  • Eye drainage, pink eye, styes

  • Fever

  • Headaches

  • Abdominal pain, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, constipation

  • Skin rashes, poison ivy, acne, warts, bug bites

  • Sprains, strains, joint pain

  • Minor cuts or burns

  • Splinter removal

  • Minor laceration repair, removal of sutures/staples

  • Ear wax removal

  • Camp, sports & college physicals (complete immunization records must be provided)

  • IV Fluids

Services for adults only (18+ years old):

  • Acute care for adults:

  • Gout treatment

  • Heartburn, reflux, indigestion

  • Urinary tract & bladder infections

  • Vaginal infections

  • Skin procedures (I&D abscesses, lesion removal)

  • Injections, such as testosterone

 

Chronic condition diagnosis/management for adults:

  • Diabetes

  • Hypertension

  • Dyslipidemia

  • Asthma

  • Obesity

  • Osteoarthritis

  • Thyroid disorders

  • Depression/Anxiety

 

Wellness services for adults:

  • Annual wellness exams

  • Pap smears

  • Travel health

  • Smoking cessation

  • Lab screening appropriate for age/family history

Please note that the clinic does NOT provide:

  • Treatment for emergencies

  • Kindergarten physicals

  • Services for children under the age of 2

  • Treatment of broken bones

  • Chronic pain management

WILL ANNUAL FLU SHOTS BE PROVIDED BY THE WELLNESS CENTER?

Yes, flu shots for employees will be available.

DOES THE WELLNESS CENTER PROVIDE PRE-EMPLOYMENT DRUG TESTING?

No. The Wellness Center does not provide pre-employment.

DO I HAVE TO PAY A CO-PAY OR DEDUCTIBLE TO BE SEEN IN THE WELLNESS CENTER?

No. The Wellness Center’s services have no co-pay or deductible. The only exception may be some laboratory services. The medical provider will discuss any charges prior to drawing labs (if applicable). The provider may also order an x-ray for you at an in-network facility if appropriate. You will be responsible for the co-pay or other non-covered fees related to any imaging, just as you would be if an x-ray was ordered from any other medical provider’s office.

DO I NEED INSURANCE TO BE SEEN AT THE WELLNESS CENTER?

No. Having medical insurance is not required for you to use the Wellness Center. There are certain services, such as lab work, that may need to be charged to insurance or could have a cash price, but any possible additional charges will be discussed with you before these services are provided to you. For this process, if you have insurance, please bring your card with you. You may be asked for your insurance card for keeping track of visits, but insurance will not be charged. You must have your photo ID to be seen at the clinic.

ARE THERE ANY HOLIDAYS THE WELLNESS CENTER WILL NOT BE OPEN?

The Wellness Center will follow the standard Ashley Furniture holiday schedule.

I HAVE A PRIMARY CARE PROVIDER. CAN I STILL USE THE WELLNESS CENTER?

Yes! The Wellness Center is not meant to take the place of your Primary Care Physician. If you need a primary care or specialist referral to Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist or any other local provider, a Wellness Center staff member can assist you.

MY PRIMARY CARE DOCTOR IS FROM NOVANT. WILL HE/SHE BE ABLE TO SEE THE RESULTS OF MY LAB WORK OR ANY OTHER VISIT INFORMATION FROM THE WELLNESS CENTER?

Yes. Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist, Novant and Cone Health all use the EPIC Electronic Medical record allowing providers to provide the best care for patients.

WHO ARE THE PROVIDERS AT THE WELLNESS CENTER?

Our Wellness Center is staffed by licensed providers from Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist.

WHAT ARE THE CREDENTIALS OF THE PROVIDERS?

The clinic is staffed with 2 Nurse Practitioners, 1 Registered Nurse, and 2 CMAs.

CAN THE WELLNESS CENTER SUBMIT APPROVAL FOR FMLA LEAVE?

No. The provider at the Wellness Center can only approve up to three days for illness. More serious concerns that may result in longer time away from work will be referred to the treating physicians.

WHO HAS ACCESS TO MY MEDICAL RECORDS LOCATED AT THE ONSITE CLINIC?

Only Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist (AHWFB) medical providers providing your care will have access to your medical records from work-related visits, but not non-work-related visits. They utilize an electronic medical records system, so information can also be shared with your primary care physician. Ashley Wellness Center employees do not receive employee information as AHWFB is bound by strict privacy and confidentiality laws governed by the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA).

VIRTUAL EMERGENCY ROOM

WHAT IS THE VIRTUAL EMERGENCY ROOM AND WHEN SHOULD I USE IT?

The Virtual Emergency Room can be used for most things you would go to Urgent Care or Emergency Room. For people on the Ashley Furniture health plan it has no copay to use and can help with the majority of things the in-person Urgent Care or Emergency Room can do

WHEN SHOULD I USE THE VIRTUAL EMERGENCY ROOM?

Use the Virtual Emergency Room on nights and weekends when the Ashley Wellness Center is closed. The Wellness Center is closed Monday thru Friday from 6:00 pm to 6:00 am and all day on Saturday and Sunday.

WHEN SHOULD I CALL 911 INSTEAD OF THE VIRTUAL EMERGENCY ROOM?

For life threating emergencies always call 911.

  • Bleeding that will not stop

  • Breathing problems (difficulty breathing, shortness of breath)

  • Chest pain

  • Choking

  • Coughing up or vomiting blood

  • Fainting or loss of consciousness

  • Head or spine injury

  • Severe or persistent vomiting

  • Sudden, severe pain anywhere in the body

  • Sudden dizziness, weakness, or change in vision

  • Swallowing a poisonous substance

  • Upper abdominal pain or pressure

  • Sudden blindness or vision changes

  • Severe burns

  • Allergic reaction

  • Any other life threatening concerns

AFTER VISITING THE VIRTUAL EMERGENCY ROOM SHOULD I STILL MAKE AN APPOINTMENT WITH THE WELLNESS CENTER?

Yes! Once you have been seen in the Virtual Emergency Room you should always schedule a follow-up appointment with the Wellness Center the next day the Wellness Center is open.

IS THERE A FEE FOR USING THE VIRTUAL EMERGENCY ROOM?

There is no fee for using the Virtual Emergency Room if you are on the Ashley Furniture health plan; however, there may be a fee if you need to be seen in person.

CAN I USE VIRTUAL EMERGENCY ROOM FOR WORK-RELATED INJURIES?

See Occupational Medicine for worked related injuries.

OCCUPATIONAL MEDICINE

WHAT IF I AM INJURED AT WORK DURING THE DAY?

You should follow your normal injury process with your manager, but they will most likely send you to the Wellness Center to be seen for your work-related injury, illness , or other occupational health services. The Wellness Center is open Monday to Friday 6:00 am to 6:00 pm.

WHEN SHOULD I USE VIRTUAL OCCUPATIONAL MEDICINE?

If injured on the job let your supervisor know immediately. The Health and Safety Team will be notified and determine the appropriate site of care.

HOW TO START A VIRTUAL OCCUPATIONAL MEDICINE VISIT?

If injured on the job let your supervisor know immediately. After confirming eligibility with Health and Safety, the Health and Safety team will take you to the designated area to conduct the visit.

HOW CAN I ACCESS MY WORK STATUS NOTE?

After the virtual visit with the provider, a copy of the Work Status Note will be sent to the employee’s myAtriumHealth account. A copy will also be faxed to the Health and Safety Team. (fax machined located in Doug Arledge’s office)

WHAT HAPPENS AFTER MY VIRTUAL OCCUPATIONAL MEDICINE VISIT?

After your visit, the Wellness Center will follow up with you to check in.
